Types of woods used for frames- All of the wood used in all series is hand selected. There will be knots in the framing wood and only if specified for Signature Series picture frames will wood be knot free. Premium Series- #2 grade Usually North American softwoods like ponderosa pine, sugar pine, white spruce or white fir. Select Series- #2 and better- ponderosa pine, white spruce, poplar, birch, maple or red oak. Signature Series- #1 or #2 Hand Selected- pine, maple, birch, red oak, ash, alder, cherry, white oak or any other available woods of your choice- priced accordingly.
Listed below are the finish specifications for each of the three different series picture frames we offer. The finishing process does not start until 24 hours after assembly to insure all glue joints are cured.
Premium Series Finish- after assembly Step 1. - 3 phases of sanding before staining. 2. Stain- brush apply stain, hand rub with wiping cloth for even tone. 3. Apply glaze coat. 4. Lightly sand. 5. Apply sealer coat, let dry. 6. Apply 1st finish coat. 7. Lightly sand. 8. Apply finish coat.

Apply 2nd coat of stain with cloth hand rubbing in stain, let dry. 4. Lightly sand. 5. Apply sealer, let dry. 6. Lightly sand. 7. Apply glazing or accent color stain, let dry. 8. Lightly sand. 9. Apply 1st finish coat, let dry. 10. Apply 2nd finish coat, let dry. 11. Lightly sand. 12. Apply final finish coat.

Apply final finish coat.
